If you attended the Maloof cup in Kimberley this past weekend then you definitely saw some of the Familia stickers floating around (with phrases printed on them). We asked Adrian Day some questions about the concept behind the stickers and put together a gallery with some of our favourites.
What was the concept behind the stickers?
We just wanted some kind of presence at the Maloof that was more our style. Something people would interact with. We wanted the idea to be funny for people and maybe create a little confusion here and there.
Who came up with the phrases?
The both of us. (Gavin Morgan and Adrian Day)
Any phrases that you had in mind that you didn’t end up doing?
Yeah tons. I think at one stage there were about 200 which we had to keep cutting down. Lots of drug references, I Hate Loucas…
This was essentially guerrilla marketing, the stickers were everywhere, where you surprised how well they did?
I don’t know. I thought it would work but you still never can be sure. I am stoked it worked as well as it did. Guerilla Marketing, shit Daz we should get you a job at Saatchi and Saatchi.
A lot of people were asking why you weren’t at the Maloof?
I am on house arrest.
Favourite phrase?
I don’t know really. I like the instructional ones the most, the ones that create confusion. And the propaganda CCTV type ones. They’re all cool though.
Favourite picture so far from the ones below?
Buy Bod a drink.
